Sustainability

One of our most important concerns is to build Upfield as a sustainable company that has a positive affect on the environment and its people. This applies to the entire supply chain as well as to business activities and interaction with communities around the world. We consider it our obligation to work towards responsible procurement, use of resources and production. We do it because it's the right thing to do. We take responsibility and in this way, we can build a stable business that we can all be proud of.

Responsible Procurement

For the manufacture of our products, we rely on ingredients such as palm oil, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil and olive oil. We ensure that we source our ingredients responsibly and sustainably. We are a member of the Round Table on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and have made the organization's requirements our own. This means that our company makes no contribution to deforestation, habitat destruction or biodiversity loss.

Palm Oil

Palm oil is a part of the Upfield product portfolio. It is a plant oil, derived from the palm fruit. From a sustainability standpoint, palm oil is a highly productive crop, and like many plant oils has advantages compared with many animal-derived foods, as regards climate impact, land use and water use. Palm oil also has unique properties as a food ingredient, in terms of the performance, texture and taste it offers.To ensure the sustainability of palm oil in our products, all palm oil directly purchased by Upfield is 100% physically certified by RSPO.

Deforestation

Accordingly, in response to the devastating impacts of deforestation, Upfield is wholly committed to responsibly sourcing its ingredients, including palm oil, soybean oil, and packaging materials such as pulp and paper, and vets partners to verify compliance with our policies and maintain transparency. By doing this, we ensure deforestation doesn’t take place due to the Upfield supply chain and help to drive industry transformation.
